A few years ago, the entire Lawson town centre and retail shopping village was torn down to make
way for widening the Great Western Highway. There were years of community action in an effort to
prevent the inevitable. Now there is an entirely new centre, complete with parking areas, shopping
developments, public gardens, toilets etc Everybody appears to have calmed down and accepted
what (by any reasonable measure) is a vast improvement.
