This is 1 of 4 in a series of pics I took of US Army vehicles at a static display by a US Army Reserve unit at Laguna Seca Mazda Raceway in Sep 07.
The term Hummer came from the original military nomenclature of HMMWV which stands for Highly Mobile Multi-Wheeled Vehicle. They made many variations of the original M998 version; this one is an M1025 with a 50 caliber machine gun mounted through the roof canopy (standard issue for MPs - Military Police).
If anyone is wondering why there is a black steel drip pan underneath the truck, it is because the US Army actually cares about preserving the environment and that is standard operating procedure (SOP).
Seems fitting to post a few military vehicle photos in conjunction with Veteran's Day - thanks to all of the brave men and women in the Armed Forces fighting the War on Terrorism (they and they families are making great sacrifices year after year).
