Nice shot, Julie. As others have mentioned, the black dots serve to transform an ordinary shot into a very striking image.

I like the way the black dots really make the numbers on the dial more pronounced. John

Wonderful image Julie from such a clever idea. I really like all three of your images, but this one does it best for me- slightly edging out the beautifully detailed flower. Great work on all!

I like the old stopwatch and the spotted background.

Great use of subject & background as one. The ripple in the spotted background just behind the watch is a nice touch.

My favorite of your three Julie. This is a fun shot. -COAmature

It is interesting that you make the comment about the lighting. All three shots were taken with available light, though this was close to a window and the sunflower was in shade outdoors. It is mid-summer here in Australia, so taking photos in sunshine is not advised. I wonder whether the results are because I have only one lens, a zoom 17-85? I haven't had comments before about soft lighting, but I usually do some pp. See http://www.pbase.com/cslr_challenge/image/91392785 and
http://www.pbase.com/cslr_challenge/image/91392787 for these images processed. Julie

Nicely composed and subdued/muted color and tones except for the reflections of the window in the glass, Julie. Your all three photos have a soft lighting. Are you experimenting with taking photos under soft ambient light, somehow?

Thanks Debi, Penny and k2. This is not a watch, but a clock, which is spherical and about the size of a baseball. It is about 150 years old and hangs from the beak of a metal eagle on a marble column. Julie

Nice shot, and some impressive glass on that pocket watch. Interesting piece.
