Slingshot - View From the Top

Rule Broken: Rule of thirds.

Why it works: The riders are surrounded by nothingness, and it is into nothingness that they are about to fall.
Centering the riders adds drama to the moment. You can feel the suspense; you can feel their anticipation.

Qualified based only on your sincere belief in your argument. I feel that centering has done just the opposite. It has removed all action from the image, and left them sitting, centered and calm. I would have preferred them to have been on the upper line of thirds, giving them room to shoot into. I would have loved a slow shutter speed to reveal their motion, adding action to the image, and revealing the direction of their travel. As is, with the calm expressions on their faces as well, they are more like a pair of babies sitting in a bouncer seat that is hung in a doorway, rather than two adventurous and brave young men, challenged by raging testosterone, to mount this beast of a machine and be thrown to the four winds. In this image I see no movement, no fear, no speed, no action, nothing to even indicate that this is anything more than an odd seat which hangs motionless in the air. ~ Lonnit

Many thanks. I think that at this point in the ride, they are about 150 feet above the ground.
