The modern way *

It maple sugaring season now and the gravity feed method
to a holding tank is the way to go. Its not as pretty as
the buckets hanging on the trees but its a lot easier
and probably more profitable.

Canon EOS 20D

Rich, the writing on the barrel/tank almost reminds me of "Got Milk" concept. This is an interesting picture. I don't think I have seen anything like this. Your explanation gave a good idea about the process too. -Cat

Rod, most of my shots have been fine with very little post processing needed, but the chicken soup pic was shot in a ice arena with very harsh lighting and the Syrup shot taken on a overcast day did get adjustments to contrast, shadow, hue, and sharpening. But I know what you mean, I think its mainly my lack of good post processing skills.

Several winters of my youth, the family would drive up to Wisconsin and tromp around behind a horse-drawn tub on skids while the buckets were collected. Then it was down to the evaporation house to whip up our own maple-syrup candy. Times change... thanks for showing us how much. This rig certainly makes sense if your maple trees are on a hill.

What post processing are you doing Rich? As the chicken & this shot look a bit soft. I think the Dslrs need more work than the P & S cameras. Hows it going with the 20D?
