Cat, It's easy as pie to get things to align properly. The "carapace" of the catcher is the outer four quadrants of a square piece of paper. I copied an image four times onto a square format and eliminated the middle, no need to waste ink. Here's a sample

Super work, Pops... your lighting technique remains as impressive as always. You are THE person from whom I learn about "painting with light". Compliments and regards jnconradie

Okay, Traveller, just because you asked.

One of my favorite ways to shoot is "painting with light." In an almost totally darkened room I'll take a picture using a Mini Maglite flashlight, powered by two AA batteries, as my only source of light. I want a long exposure time (25 sec here) hence the small aperture (f29). Usually my camera is in Aperture priority mode. With that kind of time on your hands it's amazing the control you can get over the image. I can get harsh shadows by not moving the flashlight or I can soften the shadows by using a lot of light movement. There have been times when I've moved the flashlight from the left to the right side. I can control reflections off shinny surfaces. I can play with strong back lighting. I can have lighting in one area and almost none in another. If I want shallower DOF I'll put on my polarizer or ND6 filter or both to control that. Try it! It's fun, easy (especially with digital cameras) and it still amazes me.

I've even got a set on flickr full of my "painting with light" shots.

Hmmmm, "Painting with Light." That would make a good challenge topic!

f29 at 25 seconds...Por que? Why such high settings? Just curious. Best Wishes, Traveller

Lots of color, but a nice warm tone overall. I don't think I knew these little things were called cootie catchers, though. My daughters make them all the time. Must investigate. Jim H2
