OK. That was Stazie. My other daughter Helen points out that Stazie modeled for the dress but may not have made it. She also gave me a link to her own dress she made:

Fabulous!! :-) Thanks, Victor. A real mega-construction project compared to what we attempted. Regards jnconradie

Ah, she just sent me the link.

My daughter made a dress similar to this a few years ago. I think she took some pictures. -- Victor

:-) Thanks, Cindy! :-) When you do make the evening gown, please do send pics (!) and please do make the shoulder straps strong... ours disintegrated far too quickly and the shoot was over much quicker than planned! :-) Regards jnconradie

From my 17 year-old daughter "That's just cool . . . ya know, WE could make an evening gown . . ." lol. As much fun as that would be - I won't rip off your idea, but I'll agree with her on one point - this is just cool! Cindy

Well, what can I say? I'm human, I'm male, I have a taste and appreciation for Art...and I love women, all women actually, I think that they are all Art in their form and Physiognomy.

:-) Traveller, as a special bonus for you (but I take no responsiblity whatsoever in case you develop heart trouble, OK?), I posted this one:http://www.pbase.com/image/85474581 Kind regards jnconradie

Wow. I am sure Chariese will be as delighted with the feedback as I am humbled by it. Thanks so much.

The clothes were made by my exceedingly creative better half. Chariese (no relation at all, Jim H2) is a real pro at modeling.

The newspaper background was a single sheet from the local daily, stuck on the living room wall and then photographed at a steep angle and wide aperature to give some feeling of depth to the background.

Traveller, I do not know any special editing tricks... this was simply lots and lots of time, editing pretty much pixel by pixel...! :-)

I am soooo sorry that I did not spend more on the lighting, adding a reflector to her right for example and getting some of the side-lighting softer. The clothes were on the verge of disintegration within a minute or three, and time was thus rather limited! :-) :-)

Really appreciate all the nice feedback. Regards jnconradie

Nico, I've thought about this...you are right, this crop is better for the Challenge. Best Wishes, Traveller Oh, Oh, Oh...how did you do such a perfect extraction to put her in the new background?

Teach me, brother, teach me! ;>)

Best Wishes, Traveller

You know that I am already jealous of the beautiful place where you live. Now I see you are hanging out with some very beautiful people (friend/relative?) as well.

Great idea and great execution. As always. Jim H2

Terrific idea and well executed Nico, both this one and the outtake! CJ

ISO, just put a pair of big honking goggles on your model and it'll be totally different.

A tip of the Pops' fedora!

I like the outtake better and I think it is very much on topic.

Both are well done.

Fantastic Nico, I think this apparel will be a winner especially if there is rain on the radar...lol Very pretty lady and great take. ~ Regards Melbob

iso, don't let Nicos wonderful portrait discourage you from your entry. Your portraits have a very distinctive 'iso' feel to them and I'm sure myself and others would find it highly informative to have a chance to compare different takes on a similar theme.

Nico, this is a stunning entry, well done. I do agree with travellers initial comment about wanting to see this beautiful models face. There is already enough of it to be a distraction, especially now you let the cat out of the bag with the 'out-take'!! Regards, -najinsky.

Fabulous Nico, this one is a stunner! Excellent idea and shot.

Cheers, Vikas.

Sweet Lord, hold my heart....Chariese is gorgeous! And I don't mind if you tell her so from me. But yes, she would have naturally dominated...but I still think that you're reading the rules too closely. In any case, both images are fabulous. Best Wishes, Traveller...and thanks for the out-take.
jnconradie11-Sep-2007 04:03
Thanks, Julie. Thanks, Traveller. Yes, I am indeed enjoying this one. :-)

With respect to the crop, I am sure Chariese, who played along so graciously, would have been delighted to be seen. No, I cropped like this on purpose in order to ensure that I stay within the rules Vikas set out, "... where paper is the main subject or where the main subject is made of paper...". Had more of her been visible, I fear no-one would have noticed what she was wearing! :-)

An out-take is posted athttp://www.pbase.com/jnconradie/image/85416691

Regards jnconradie

Wow, Nico, you are out to win this Challenge, aren't you? Just superb work as always...however, did the model ask for this crop with her eyes out of the frame? I would prefer seeing her full face, but 1) maybe that's just me, or 2) that may not be possible if she restricted the shoot.

Great background too!

Best Wishes, Traveller

Nicely 'exposed' Nico. Great idea carried through very well. Julie
