For what it's worth, I like this version better too. I love the glow on the hills in the background. This is, in my opinion, one of the very few HDR processed images which I like. It doesn't seem too unnatural and the HDR treatment adds something to the shot in this case. I think this is a processing technique that is difficult to master and know when to use. Very well done! thank you Nico!
I think this one is more honest, has more details, more feeling and a bigger story.
being HDR one can already see it as slightly "unnatural".I love the sepia version too, without the busy texture.
well done!
;)

I had a look at the previuos version this morning and was going to leave a comment on how much I liked it, good thing I didn't. This version is better I like the colour and it does the scene more justice. The other version was technically superb I would like to find out more about the various techniques you use.

Thanks, tomi. It was such a spectacular sun-set scene that I did feel slightly "guilty" when I converted all the colours to sepia... and yet I did also like the "old look". Your comment made me take another look at the original version... which is perhaps less characterful, but possibly conveys better what the moment looked like. Thanks and regards jnconradie

but I'd like to see it without the texture too.
it's a bit too much in my opinion
