Thanks. I really had not ever played with selective color before either. But when I shot this, the purple of the soap seemed very pale. So I thought that the black and white treatment of the rest of the scene would accentuate it. And once I did a black and white version to use as a layer, I really kind of liked the way the hand and the shower background looked in B&W so that made my mind up to try it.
I did this by putting the black and white layer on top and then just erasing that layer where I wanted the soap to show through. It's kind of tedious!. I suspect there may be an easier way, perhaps using the magic wand tool or something like that. Jim H.
Just as Alistair said: it does not always work and few know how to do it subtly enough. This is just superb, Jim! Compliments. (I hope you managed to keep the camera dry!) Regards ~jnconradie
Excellent. I know some people don't like partial color, but that's because it tends to get overused by people when they first figure out how to do it. This is a great example of its effective use. Nicely done.
