the age old search for every thing that is gold

dahlonega georgia

My daugher is now rock collecting, so we went to Dahlonega, Georgia to pan for gold. Dahlonega is the home of the first US gold rush. We came home with two viles with a few specs of gold in each. But a fun time was had by all.

Great shot, Lee! My eye is drawn right to the subject, your subject has a very innocent / appealing expression and the composition is right on! Markjay

Lovely portrait, but I think background is a bit disturbing.

Love the expression you captured. She looks very pleased with herself!
Hmmmm....she's growing up too fast.

Thanks everyone for putting up with me. I don't know if I need a new monitor, learn how to calibrate or new eyes. I am sure it is all of the above. Worked hard on calibrating my monitor, and I think it looks right, but am not sure. Will see what fathers day brings. 8-)

Thanks Bogdan and Mike for your kind words.

Nice shot. The faint lines on the negative space complement the subjet's sharpness quite nicely. Well done! Bogdan

Lee, I saw the original as well as this version. For my taste, I prefer this version. You've maintained the glow on your daughter, which was prominent in the first version, but I prefer the bright clarity of her eyes, freckles, and hair in this version. -Michael

I didn't think there was anything wrong with the original! :) I guess this is fine - maybe I prefer the other??? ~ Lonnit

This one has less glow and no blur.

Let me know if it works better.

The sun. She is under a tree that is just to the left out of frame.

Where is the strong side lighting coming from? ~ Lonnit

Nice combination of eerie lighting and cute subject. The fill flash works really well.
Guest 04-Jun-2006 11:56
Thanks. I used my flash for fill.

Nice shot, Lee. Hey, remember my vial of illuminated gold from a past challenge? Yup, it was lots of fun. Interesting lighting here. ~ Lonnit
