Call Alice *

Wonderland

We've got a lot of cottontails near my office this year due to the favorable weather. I took this right after a rainstorm passed over. The bunnies were out munching grass and seeming to enjoy the wetness. I just loved this guy's ears but couldn't get things as sharp as I really wanted. Do you think I got just a hare carried away with the sharpening on this one?

Certainly over-sharpened, but I think with the title it works very well. I'm a big fan of the disney rendition, and I would not find it hard to believe that you might find this guy there!

You're right. It's kind of painful to look at for some reason. I started out just wanting to get it nice and sharp and then just whacked the daylights out of it by sharpening it over and over and over until it almost looks like a drawing or perhaps a halftone or etching. Then I went ahead and desaturated that part of it too. Here's the "original":

I think the thing that makes the processed version so painful is also what sort of intrigued me about it. It almost has a 3-D quality to it with the bunny appearing almost flat and the background seeming to be very distant. It's like a paper cutout of a drawing standing up in front of a "real" background. I'll admit that its strange :)

Over sharpened indeed! I find this very hard to look at. It looks like it might have been a very cute bunny picture at one time! ~Sharon
