I do like your additional edits, the light on the trees is really nice and the rich green really adds to the shot. Neat perspective of the harbor. -Michael

Yes it does look better. The transition from the girl to the bay is smoother now. Good job Sharon! --- aam1234

Well, Alex and aam, I think you were right. I have brightened the darkest shadowed trees and I do think it looks a lot better. The original image can be found here for comparison:http://www.pbase.com/elips/image/47219551 Thanks for your help with this! ~Sharon

Hi Sharon. Come to think of it I think Alex has a point. Have you tried his suggestion, it doesn't hurt to give it a go if you have a chance and see which one you like better --- aam1234

I think Alex is just saying that the background should be brighter and I am not sure that would actually make it more busy just more uniform. But what I was going for was the brightly lit person against the darker background. I think the usual with this kind of shot is a silhouette against a bright background and maybe there is a reason that is usual, maybe it works better than this does. Thanks for the comments everyone! ~Sharon

I think that's not a good idea Alex (if I understood you correctly). The photo is borderline busy, any additional detail and it will burst...me think. But that girl helps "anchor" the view then go straight to the bay & the boats.
Hope that makes sense.

I like the lonely figure and the patterns on the water. Nicely seen. I wonder how it would look with a tad less shadow on the greenery

Camden Harbor is a protected inlet on the edge of Penobscot Bay so a lot of boats moor there to be protected from the weather. This was taken on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and the harbor is actually relatively empty since many of the boats that make their home there were out in the bay enjoying the sunshine and light wind. Here is a more panoramic shot:http://www.pbase.com/image/47262531 ~Sharon

Hi Sharon. May I ask non-photo question about this photo :)

Why are all the boats gathering in that area. Was there some kind of an event on shore. Just curious. Thanks.

Thanks, aam! It really does look like it was taken with a wide angle lens but I was considerably up the hill from her and did indeed use the 85mm (equivalent 150mm, if I remember correctly) end of my lens, the only telephoto I have! ~Sharon

There are many things to like about the photo, one of which is the angle of view. Also, the photo looks so vast --- aam1234
