Hookney tor with the paved trackway up to it clearly visible. Not archaeology, but I can see ceremonial processions with torches coming down.
The gateway is of hollow construction, which apparently continued right around the walls....in this case my wild mind turns for comparison to the equally unexplained and self-evidently non-defensive Scottish Brochs http://www.pbase.com/crisscross/broch
