Unforgiving Grace
Day 126

Feline diabetes is a strange thing.

Given the temperment of cats, I suppose it is only to be expected that the disease be as changeable as their natures.
Diabetes in cats can appear suddenly, ride high and swing low, and once in a while, disappear altogether.

Over the past few weeks, Beau's diabetes has gone into remission.
This doesn't mean that he won't ever need insulin again; he may need it again next week. But for a while at least we can put aside the needles that have ruled us each day, every 12 hours, and replace them with vigilance.
I can't every pretend that it is gone forever; this is his second time in remission. But it is a small relief, and a cautiously wonderful feeling.

This needle is from yesterday, and was his last shot for this go-round.

Here he is today, resting after his sun bath: http://www.pbase.com/corvidae/image/33632149

Dramatic picture for a dramatic situation. Hope your cat will never need it again... best of luck.

There is nothing that makes me more sad or cry, than seeing animals suffering!

Nice colors to soften the impact of the needle.

I'm glad he's in remission. He's beautiful.

Carmen, We lost one of our cats two years back to diabetes and kidney failure. Hang in there. It can be rough but the know you care.

Though you have done an excellent presentation here Carmen, I'm sorry for Beau's unwell state.

Sorry about your cat's illness. Very good lighting on the photo.

It is a strange disease. My Opus went into remission and I nearly killed him with an insulin injection he no longer needed. The remission did not last and we are back on the insulin. Every time I shoot him I wonder if I am keeping him healthy or killing him.
Good luck with yours.

Sorry to hear about your cat's condition, and glad to hear that there is a slight reprieve. My last cat caught the feline equivalent of AIDS - it was so sad seeing her in such pain.

Pretty fluffy kitty.... glad to hear of his remission. Seems like our kids can take care of themselves after a while, but the animals sure deserve our attention, too. Nicely done image.
