Feline diabetes is a strange thing.
Given the temperment of cats, I suppose it is only to be expected that the disease be as changeable as their natures.
Diabetes in cats can appear suddenly, ride high and swing low, and once in a while, disappear altogether.
Over the past few weeks, Beau's diabetes has gone into remission.
This doesn't mean that he won't ever need insulin again; he may need it again next week. But for a while at least we can put aside the needles that have ruled us each day, every 12 hours, and replace them with vigilance.
I can't every pretend that it is gone forever; this is his second time in remission. But it is a small relief, and a cautiously wonderful feeling.
This needle is from yesterday, and was his last shot for this go-round.
Here he is today, resting after his sun bath: http://www.pbase.com/corvidae/image/33632149
