October 19 2007:
Dying Gull

Goldsworth Park

Spotted this gull near the shore of the lake. It looked fairly still but certainly alive. At this point it went over to one side, but then straightened up and later even flapped its wings. The helpless creature then twirled around full circle and it seemed that the gull had been caught in some fishing line.

A lad called Aaron then arrived and after some thought, decided to brave the cold water with a rescue bid. But the gull just drifted out in deeper water and Aaron had to admit defeat. I hope the gull’s pain was not too great.
