London Wetlands Centre, Barnes

My brother Martin and I took our Dad to the London Wetlands Centre today on the occasion of his 90th Birthday. This site was once a reservoir and my Dad often used to birdwatch there. Today he was able to see the many birds there in its new setting, some being wild whilst others are semi-captive in that they are not allowed to fly too far.

My Dad tends to freeze before the camera so I decided to catch him unawares in one of the hides!

There is so much here in this sensitive portrait of your father...the depth of darkest values envelopes his profile while the highlights give such delicate definition to it. Beautifully done, Ray. (And a belated Happy Birthday to him from me, too!)
