I’m pretty lucky to live just a few miles from Guildford (pronounced ‘Gilford’). It’s an historic city which still retains a lively shopping environment along its hilly cobbled High Street.

Rather than a ‘hip shot’, I went one step down and got this ‘foot shot’ by sitting on the kerb and just holding the camera ‘blind’ in front of my toes.

The raw shot suffered from ‘collapsing building’ syndrome; I’ve tried to correct that in PS as much as possible, but I still don’t feel the perspective is perfect.

I love it - to me it is full of the quirkiness that means that Guildford retains some charm unlike most other High Streets in the UK these days. Nice one Ray.

Very interesting shot. It's been many years since I was last in Guildford. I suspect the you might feel the perspective doesn't feel quite right because of the positioning of the man in the center in relation to the buildings and the vanishing point (because the camera is so low and possibly because of the wide angle lens) - in other words, his feet are in the right place but as you look up, he starts to become like Gulliver in Guildford (sorry - couldn't resist it) because the point of reference is so skewed by the camera position. Hope that makes sense. Well, I'm not an expert but that's my best guess from how I see it; I could be completely wrong but I guess the perspective isn't right for a human, but any cats surfing pbase are going to be mighty impressed. btw, your Photoshop recipe is really helpful. I should start doing that too, once I finally get to grips with Photoshop. Thanks for sharing.
