September 6 2004:
Semaphore

This is Chatley Heath semaphore tower near Wisley. It was one of 15 towers that were used to convey messages from the Navy offices in London to the dockyard at Portsmouth. More about this system can be found here .

This tower is situated on extensive heathland and is only accessible by foot. I actually got lost on the way back to the car park and discovered that some of this heathland is used for ‘other’ recreational purposes too. I was approached by a guy who was interested in a nude photo, and when I saw others wandering, I realised that they weren’t just walkers.

I of course declined his offer, but had it been some cute chick, well……

Nice shot Ray. Some of the less accessible parks here in Toronto have similar 'wild life'!!

Interesting background on the sites, and your day's adventures.

Fascinating story about pre-telegraph communications. Perhaps they should now fly a flag that indicates "Nudists About!"
