August 3 2004:
After the Rain

After a few muggy days, we had some welcome rain this afternoon. Well, at least I did, and it was like a tropical downpour. When my brother Martin came over 30 minutes later, he said “What Rain?”. Apparently, the roads were bone dry just a few yards up the road!

As soon as it stopped, the sun came bursting through and I caught this display in my garden.

I like it. The composition catches and holds the eye. Good work.

Very cool. Fun exploring the depths and surfaces here.

The weather this year has certainly been up and down. when I first saw this it looked like pond weed breaking the surface of the water. Interesting shot.

Nice image, love the frozen pearly drops,
I've seen more spiders, but that's because I'm looking for macro shots in the garden,
however, in Belgium the house sparrows have also disappeared.
I hope they come back, they eat spiders, don't they?

Yes, Cheryl, they are water droplets on spiders webs. In fact, almost at ground level at the base of some conifer shrub. I hadn't noticed an increase, but maybe that is good news. In the UK, our house sparrow population has suddenly nosedived (for an unknown reason) and our seabirds are at risk because of the effect global warming has had on the fish off our shores.

Very interesting photo. Is it spider webs?
Has anyone else noticed an increase in the amount of spider webs this year.

We had unwelcome rain this morning! Muggy as hell here still and as dull as ditch water!! Interesting mage Ray - is it a puddle??
