A journey through the Channel Tunnel is becoming quite familiar to me now. It opened to traffic in 1993 and competes with the ferry. Motorists can take their cars aboard large double-deck trains that whisk them under the English Channel in just 35 minutes; there are also trains that cater for trucks too. In addition, the rails under the channel also carry the high-speed Eurostar trains that take passengers from London to Paris and Brussels.
This is very much a ‘record’ shot of a pretty featureless environment. Nonetheless, it’s a good sign that a long journey will soon be over and I will soon be able to log onto PBase and snuggle up in my own bed!
