July 6 2004:
Oh so nice to come home

A journey through the Channel Tunnel is becoming quite familiar to me now. It opened to traffic in 1993 and competes with the ferry. Motorists can take their cars aboard large double-deck trains that whisk them under the English Channel in just 35 minutes; there are also trains that cater for trucks too. In addition, the rails under the channel also carry the high-speed Eurostar trains that take passengers from London to Paris and Brussels.

This is very much a ‘record’ shot of a pretty featureless environment. Nonetheless, it’s a good sign that a long journey will soon be over and I will soon be able to log onto PBase and snuggle up in my own bed!

I was there about six months ago. Good shot for the memories. Great way to get to Europe!

Superbe jeu de perspectives et de lumière. Les couleurs sont très belles aussi, une composition vraiment réussie...

Welcome back! I have never used this either, but have always wanted to. I like the elongated car roof in the foreground that really emphasizes the length of this thing!

Interesting! I've never seen an inside view. But this claustrophobic girl will gladly suffer thru the long and uncomfortable ferry ride, thank you : )

Don't think I'd like to go through the Chunnel... but then again, it looks fun... looking out the window and seeing all that blackness rushing past!!
