March 19 2004:
Au marché

Woking, Surrey

Twice a year, we have a French market in town, with traders from across the channel. Today, the skies were really dull, so I may pay a return visit if its brighter over the weekend, as they're here for three days. Oh, and guess what this stall was selling....that's right, SOAP!

An interesting and colourful shot

Nice. Like the dark clothing and contrast of the soap colors.
Also like the perspective this was shot from.
Also thanks for replying to my POD. You are partly right the bottom is a roof line but was shot from outside.

Oh French soap! Your feet will thank you for that after that nasty disinfectant you used on your shoes!! You'll smell so very nice!! This is a really nice shot with the pastel colors of the wares attracting my eye, and contrasted by the dark tones of the patrons' coats. I love this stuff...wish I could be there too!

I can feel how it smells, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Love the contrast between the dark clothes of the seller and the pastels of his soaps

I like the perspective of this shot Ray and the stall holders... Any chance of a food stall shot if you return tomorrow??

Nice one, great lively fun shot!

Neato! What is that in the baskets in the front? The first two look like colored eggs.

I really like the perspective you chose.

Great picture, I love these markets, good or bad weather, I wouldn't want to miss it. I'll have the lavender soap please :)

Looks like soap and bath sponges. Nice exposure and good shot.

Hey - cool pic Ray....and a good subject too!

I like very much the typical moustached french vendor, preparing the plastic bag for the buyers and smiling a little imbarassed
as he is understanding nothing of what those people au déla de la Manque lui-disent.
Great capture!

I´m guessing soap and other bath-accessories.....
Lovely picture anyway.Very alive.

This looks like such a neat place to be! Glad you got the chance to go and bring back a piece of the market to share with us!

Well done Ray, you got the mood and your framing is great - these shots are not easy to get right, you did.

Soap? Beautiful shot Ray. They have have some cool stuff. Any Pate (hmm did I spell it right) and fromage?

Nice market shot. You only get to enjoy this open market twice a year? That's too bad.
Guest 19-Mar-2004 17:20
Great colors!! I love reading about the things you do, the places you go.. so fascinating!

Mmmm....soap. What a nice image, Ray. Not only the soap, but the people, the sense of "life." I love open-air markets, there's so much to see. I do hope brighter skies will let you share more.
