March 1 2004:
Welcome Back, Johnny!

Today is St. David's Day, patron saint of Wales, so what better flower to show than that country's daffodil. The Daffs are just coming out here, but I had to go to the florists to get some good ones. Spring certainly is just around the corner!
But today also heralded the return one of Radio 2's best loved presenters, Harley-Davidson fan Johnny Walker, after being away for nine months and undergoing cancer treatment. I remember him being quite a renegade in the days of the pirate radio stations, which were broadcast from ships just outside territorial waters to get round the law, which then only allowed the BBC to broadcast.
So welcome back Johnny, so great to hear your voice and music again when we drive home from work each day.

Great shot, Ray! Sadly I missed the opportunity for a daff picture on St. David's day this year - I got it last year, though!

Ray, your lighting is excellent! I shot some Daffodils in February, but mine were not this stunning. Excellent capture!

Ray, your light, is as ever, just amazing. Can I request that you do a set up shot of your light too? I'd love to see your set up! Beautiful against the black background!

Wow! I love the lighting on this! The shadows on the top peddles, and the black background really make it stand out! Wonderful colors also! Beautiful!

I like your lighting approach with this one Ray. I read your note with interest too. I was a Johnny Walker fan back in the Radio 1 days when he had his show on a Saturday if I remember correctly. Not being a Radio 2 convert I didn't realise he's been suffering with cancer. Thanks for the info and bringing me up to date.
