February 24 2004:
Texture in Wood

Bisley, Surrey

Today the sky was been grey and wet, but I made the short trip to the famous National Rifle Association grounds at Bisley. This is a part of an abandoned hut there, but there are many interesting buildings on the site which I will photograph on another day.

There is just something about b/w that creates such "mood!" This would not have been nearly as effective in color. The tones and texture are great! Interesting how the two windows are so different!

I can't believe I didn't comment on this yesterday! I started at it for a while and read all the comments....Sorry!

What I was going to say is, Are you hanging out with Mr. Tiffany???? LOL! Very nice Ray!

I can't help wondering if you would still have achieved a nice image with only the window on the right.

Wow, well done, Ray! Very nice details and certainly great B&W work!

Amazing tones, Ray, I wish I could come near such perfection!

Nice pic. It may sound odd, but I like the way the windows are linked by the lighter strips of wood.

I always love windows and doors so this is for a wow picture. Love the texture of the wood and the old paint on the windows.

Good one Ray.

Wood and dilapidation, two great elements for B&W. Gets my NRA vote.

I love this photo Ray. Would not have had the same effect as a color one. well done.

Stunning B&W!!! The textures and contrasts really bring this one to life! -- angela :)

Wow! Such lovely texture and contrasts! There's even an optical illusion with this photo that makes it seem like the top line of the crop slants up to the right! Very interesting! :) Great photo Ray!

Ray this is excellent. You captured the very essence of this building. A interesting building it is, the two window sizes. Gets my vote.
