February 15 2004:
Worked to Death

When I posted my "Withered" image, Jill suggested making some Pot Pourri. Being a bloke, I have never even contemplated that! Anyway, here is my first effort. I am sure Ian will spot that this not only features my Tiger Lilies but also my famous February tulips that are now giving their third performance.

Yes, Ray you DID work them to death...perhaps you could get one last shot if you get a potpourri simmer thing and shoot that by candle. Otherwise, you MAY have to get more flowers!! This has really pretty tones in it!

Chris: I had a spotlight not far above the 'arrangement', but the subtlety you see probably comes from the fact that I desaturated by 67%. The background is a piece of card bought from an art shop which in reality is very near to the blue that PBase use here. Its just like the blue where you see "Comments for image 12345678" in Chris Booker's galleries".

Fine shot and excellent toning

I'm surprised there's no banana or onion skins in there too not to mention a dash of melon, some apple peelings and maybe a screwdriver, you know, the ones from the Pound Store! As for making some Pot Pourri, this looks like something the Park Keeper swept up last autumn (fall) mate!! - Ian, PS Don't give up your day job!! ;-) Hey, it's actually not a bad shot, whatever it is!!

Great idea and image Ray.
May I ask how you got the subtle lighing. Do you use a dimmer?

Beautiful lighting! I would have had a hard time coming up with a picture of something like this, but you've done it wonderfully!
