January 10 2004:
In the Churchyard

Godalming, Surrey

My Canon made its debut on night photography today, and I lurked around this church. I was going to show a general view of the church, but had difficulty correcting the distortion - I thought this shot was easier!

Kind of spooky! Great texture in the stone.

The dramatic spotlighting in this set the atmosphere and really make this one have that extra punch. Love the warm tones against those silhouettes. Truly a great photo. -- angela :)

I like the tombstone foreground. Neat shot, Ray.

Nice, very nice. I like the way the lighting shows the texture of the building.

I love churchyards and cemeteries. I'm expecting the Canterville Ghost to jump up from behind the headstone. No wait he'd scarre himself in the process. Ha Ha. This is an amazing picture Ray. Could you post on another gallery the other ones you took. I'm curious to see more.

Good work, Ray - like the shadows, nice effect of the orange light glow, too!

What a terrific, dramatic image, Ray - WOW! Very nicely seen and captured. Almost a little creepy! LOL Love the hues of this, BTW.

Its not a projection, Alfred. There are two headstones.

Great mood! the projection on the wall is fantastic.

I am really enjoying my daily forays into your pad. This one does not disappoint at all. The angle sells it I think. IMHO it was a good choice not to include the windows (?) in their entirety because it leaves a much better and moodier abstract this way. I am appreciating the sense of play that you seem to bring to your shooting. - liza

If Jeanne can't find her new lights, she now knows where to look :-)

The angle of shot shows the texture of the stonework very nicely.
I assume the light is from fixed floodlights.
