one half of famous cricketing twins

Woking, England view map

this sculpture of Eric Bedser was unveiled by former British Prime Minister Sir John Major on 8th June last and sits at one end of the Bedser pedestrian bridge in Woking. At the other end of the bridge is one of his twin brother Alec.

The twins were professional cricketers at the top of their game during the late 1940s and 1950s. Alec played for England, and both played for their county of Surrey.

At the beginning of World War II, my Dad found himself on the same training course as the Bedsers and I have a group photo showing all three of them.

From what I read they were a fine pair...and I'm reminded of other cricketing twins the Waugh brothers, though Steve and Mark were not identical such as these. Reading their history shows they are worthy of recognition.
Howzat !!!
