I've only ever flown on my own a couple of times in the USA. I'm normally with my wife. On this occasion I'd slipped away for a couple of days from an academic visit and gone to a small airport at San Dimas in the LA valley. I hired an aircraft and flew north into the desert to Apple Valley. I took this on the way back looking west into the sun and LA smog. It really was very beautiful. It's a pity that I had only my S50 camera with me (the picture is a little noisy and grainy).
