08Feb06 Jacks Anyone? - 10036

Connecticut

Photo a Day, Day 315...Moving right along memory lane... One of my favorite childhood games was jacks. I tried a shot with the ball and bouncing the ball but b/w just doesn't do the bright red ball justice... It is funny you don't see kids playing jacks anymore it is all gameboys and other electronics...

If you want to see more of who is doing the February in B/W Challenge check out: http://www.pbase.com/topics/cjburianek/bw_feb.

ACR, Channel Mixer to create b/w, Resize, Frame, Sharpen: PhotoshopCS2

Canon EOS 20D ,Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM
1/10s f/5.6 at 100.0mm iso200 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

I love this shot and the one before it (the car from the cracker jacks). Great black and whites with excellent dof!

Jacks do bring back "Memories": Your dad took 2nd place in his 6th grade Jacks Competition, really making the school champ, Jamie Merideth nervious.
Jonathan, you should try Jacks, as they are a good eye/hand cordination game, and you wouldn't want grandpa to come back and beat you on a game.

Great one for b&w, like the DoF and spot lights

I love the focus in this, singling out the 'onesie'. Nice tones too.

Umm actually they are my jacks.. I've yet to convince Jonathan into playing...

Never heart about Jacks and I haven't an idea what it is, but the picture is great. Love the sharp foreground and the rhythmic repeating of the glistering at the background.

Except for the bit about being a jacks (and parchisi and badmitton) champ as a kid, I could repeat everything else said below. Nice job.
jude09-Feb-2006 03:20
Excellent DOF and choice of subject. I loved jacks.. I was the neighborhood champ (that, badminton, and parchisi).. damn .. my claims to fame..lol
