Traveller - I understand completely. I had the same problem when I was travelling internationally to cities like Hong Kong, Beijing, and Mumbai. I could not bring myself to photograph the homeless and poor street people. Perhaps very nice photographs, but not by me.

Yes, Paul, it would be a great possible series of images; but the subject is....distressing to me...also, when I am down there I am usually working, my mind is on accomplishing things other than photography....further, I don't have time to stop.

This is in part why I post so many night shots....this is when I am allowed to think visually.

That congregation of homeless at the campsite sounds like a good winter scene for LA. If thats where I think its right by the catholic church. (I've driven by it trying hard to get myself lost there) Maybe they bring them out food and warm coffee for breakfast. Or maybe not!! Great possible photo ops maybe. Paul

I know that I am fortunate that I have an open post office round the clock, actually two of them that I use with some happy frequency. I can weigh letters, buy postage, etc...

And I understand why many are closed....I happened to be in Down Town Los Angeles this morning at 7:45am, just off the Spring Street exit, a homeless encampment on both sides of the street...people waking up and coming out of their tents, and, doing some individual camping myself, I see my tent on the far side of the road...

This is all so difficult, There but for the grace of God goes I as my mother taught me to think....

Sigh...clown that I am, I am so lucky...to be where I am.

Even if I have to do mail runs at 3:30....;>}}}}

As you mentioned elsewhere - this is an interesting slice of life. The capture certainly gives the feeling of a late night & unoccupied building. Personally, I can't see myself here at this time, so I like the capture of something I may never see.

Do you always carry a camera on early morning mail runs?

Our local post office was closed. I miss it but understand why.
