Grazing in the Shadows

Madera Canyon, AZ

I was out on a photo walk this morning, and a deer graciously stood in the shadows for me as it grazed.

Traveler - no, it did not sprint off. It was with another adult deer and a small deer. I just stood quietly, not moving, and it went back to grazing. If I had started towards it, or made some noise, it would have left. These deer see quite a few hikers, so they are not inherently afraid, but motion towards them or noise will set them off.

Very good...like Paul, I thought this a Dave shot, but you have captured this well...and in silhouette. This animal, it's ears, it's eyes are very focused on you....did it sprint off?

Thanks, Paul. That is a compliment.

Looking at the thumbnail I was sure it was Daves photo. Nice capture. Paul
