Come Here My Innocent Friend

Flash was off a hand held white envelope...controlling for sharp shadows was difficult, I had to run to the car for the camera and figure how to shoot this before this beastie disappeared (by in large, I don't kill spiders), and so these were, per force, quick shots...I did shoot the 6D without flash, but I think the on board flash on the 4Ti was much better than the 6D without.

Traveller all you have to keep in mind is love finds a way. I can't see the pedipalps so fella it might actually be the female. Paul

Pretty much got the body and all the legs in focus. That's quite an achievement for such a closeup shot. Michael

I like the photo, and I like the story.
Most of the ones I see around here do not have such long legs in proportion to their body.
And on this surface, you need the shadow to define where he touches the envelope.

Free Range spiders, I like my spiders to be free range...lol...Paul, no, I didn't forget and thought about capturing the creature, thinking of you, specifically as you advised...but I was working, (and I am not sure that I am happy to be working again, every night at midnight), moved a stack of books and he and his wife scurried out.

On the one hand, I felt bad interrupting them, on the other, I didn't really want to take the time to put him in a glass, (and how would he find his wife again?), get out the flash cord, set up the EX580 flash....I was working, (unhappily), and needed to get back to the real task at hand.

But these spiders were a nice diversion, (I do kill all and sundry Brown Recluse Spiders!)

Best Wishes, Traveller

I see you forgot my little (actually not mine) trick about putting them in the frig for 20 minutes or so to convince them to be more cooperative.
Anyway I always enjoy seeing spider and insect macro shots so I say good job. Your lighting is not harsh at all and the better news is that this spider is harmless so when he bit you on the hand you've got nothing to be concerned about. Paul
