Paul - thanks. This was my second day out with this new lens, the Tamron 16-300mm. It is really sharp glass, and has vibration control which really helps.

In addition, we had light rain during the morning, so the cat had probably been a bit wet. When he dried, he got "fluffy".

T - Thanks. I got lucky, as he was up in a tree in his cage, and I didn't need to shoot through dirty glass. The fence was close enough to me that I could shoot through it with minimal loss of light.
Then it's just a matter of patience, waiting for that "right look".
