Traveller - thanks. As Techo asked - get out of your comfort zone. This is probably as far out as I have ever wandered.
Alastair - two things make this. The plate with pie and the cup were photographed on our granite counter top which has a lot of visual structure. Then, after the photo was processed in the standard way, I subjected it in PS Elements to the distortion effect called swirl.
