Thanks. Hawk Ridge is a ridge line overlooking Lake Superior just on the north side of Duluth. When the birds migrate south from the north, they run into Lake Superior - which they avoid; too big, and too cold to produce thermal updrafts. So the fly along near the shore line. Hawk Ridge is less than a mile from the lake. When you are are on the ridge, you will sometimes even see birds flying below you.
Three excellent shots Jim but for me this one is the standout image of the set. Excellent subject isolation, beautiful patterns in the markings and a very pleasing colour palette.
I'm guessing Hawk Ridge is well named!
