Great idea and well captured and processed.

I like the shadow in the 'set up' shot, including the shadow (with the tripod etc cloned out) would, in my opinion, make this even better.

Thanks, everyone...the set up is here. The only trick, other than thinking of this, is shooting it fast....it empties quicker than one might imagine.

As Mary Anne said, some horizontal rain from the left would be cool (but maybe not minimal enough).
Amazingly well done!

A clever idea for this topic, Trav, and perfectly executed. All it needs is some rain...to show that it's still pouring! Is that another challenge for you?

Traveller - Was the salt canister held with a screw attached to a tripod behind colored paper/ board and which pierced the the paper/ board and into the canister?

And was the canister close to being empty before starting?

Minimalistic action photography! I think you've just invented a whole new genre! :-) Very well done indeed.

Thank you, Kelly, coming from you that means something special to me.

For the curious, off the camera flash with the light cord and when I opened the spout, just step back, try to get a focus and start shooting away...one arm extended up to get the flash up and the resulting shadow far away.

I used the quick release screw on the Tripod quick release to screw into the box to hold it...lol

Whatever works.
