8 Fuchsia magellanica

Melbourne, Australia

Fuchsia magellanica, is a species of flowering plant in the family Onagraceae, native to Southern Argentina and Chile.
It is widely cultivated as a garden plant, and quite frost-hardy compared to other fuchsias.

Another red and green hanging over my back fence.

The color green is a natural representation of eternal life, specifically the evergreen tree
and how it survives through the winter season.

Red is the color of happiness, health and prosperity.

So beautiful! Especially against the weathered wood. Here, they are sold mostly in hanging baskets in summer and sometimes they are kept over the winter if one has the right indoor conditions (a green house helps), but mostly they are treated as an annual. It would be magnificent to see them growing outside.
