12 Pelicans and people

Hastings, Australia

A view years ago it was a rare occurrence to watch pelicans at Hastings.
But people have started to feed them and now a big group of pelicans are living in the area.
Hanging around for their daily feed, instead of fishing themselves.
Now they have become more or less a tourist attraction as you see on the photo.
I like to watch these amazing big birds, there is always something going on.

Ah, they became lazy! But they are still impressive birds.

Coo capture and a fun shot. We have big problems here with people feeding different types of animals on the beaches. I don't think it's a good idea.

Very nice shot Mieke!! but you are right, they should be fishing for their food!

People do mean well, but they really are not doing the pelicans any
favors by hand feeding them. Wonderful shot Mieke!

They are big enough to eat a baby!

Indeed an attraction, but they shouldn´t be fed, great to see though! V.

People doing what they shouldn't do. The birds now are dependent. But, makes a great pic!

They will stay if there are hand-outs now and then. I love Pelicans!! Nice shot for us!

Remarkable birds! But I hope they don't lose the ability to fish for themselves!
