Melbourne, Australia

Melbourne has more decorative cast iron than any other city in the world.
By the 1880s it symbolised the city's brash image virtually every new balcony and verandah was draped in an 'iron petticoat'.

I've always considered Melbourne my favorite city - greatly due to this cast iron work and the European architecture. Great shot!

Lovely image, and interesting text, thanks for sharing. The camel and mountain (?) add quite a bit, and when I first looked at it, i thought they was out the window, and it was some kind of illusion.

I would almost think of New Orleans when I see this, but the camel is a dead give-away for another land far, far away.
