Arriving in early May, thousands of protesters camped out in the famous Plaza del Sol in central Madrid. Protesting against the 22%+ unemployment rate, the Spanish banking crisis, and a general lack of leadership in the Spanish government, some protesters have stuck it out into July. Fearing reprisals, many will not allow their faces to be photographed, but insist they will stay until government action addresses these issues with serious thought.
