The Bannerman Castle, located on Pollepel Island 5 miles south of Beacon, NY in the Hudson River, was built as an armory in the early 20th century. It was built by Francis Bannerman, a NYC based businessman who focused on military supplies. He also built a private residence on the island at the same time. Both structures were gutted by fire in the late 1960's. It is now owned by the NYS Taconic Parks Commision. These pictures were taken during a photography workshop conducted on the island in October of 2008.
