On the hillside, behind St Catherine's Church, is the cemetery. It was here that the Mexicans buried their dead in above ground graves that looked like little ovens or "hornitos" so that is where the town got it's name. Unfortunately, I didn't know this when I was there, so I didn't look for them. Apparently there are a few remaining hornitos somewhere in this cemetery.
