Domingo or Domenico?)Ghirardelli opened a General Store in Hornitos during the gold rush. Apparently he operated this store for 3 years and then moved on to San Francisco where he established the now famous Ghirardelli Chocolate Company. That company bought these ruins and put a plaque on the building in 1929. This is about all that is left.
