Girls Photographing Cimabue's "Enthroned Madonna" c. 1280

This painting of an Enthroned Madonna or "Maestą" shows the Virgin in Majesty glorified as Queen of Heaven, surrounded by a host of angels.
It was originally painted by Cimabue for the high altar of the church of San Francesco in Pisa in about 1280.
The painting came to Paris during the Napoleonic war and was transferred to the Louvre.
Cimabue, Giotto and Duccio, among other artists, made a number of these Enthroned Madonnas for various church altars.
