This image shows a detached Botticelli fresco of 1480-83 from the Villa Lemmi near Florence.
It was commisioned by the Tournabouni family, possibly to commemorate a family wedding.
The fresco was discovered under a whitewashed wall in the villa in 1873.
It is one of three Botticelli frescoes made at the villa at that time, two of which are in the Louvre, and the third one is still in situ.
I was interested to see the young mother sitting before the painting with her child.
