This Tang Dynasty Temple was built almost entirely in caves, known as Yao Dong. It is unique in the Xi'an area. I am told it was orginally built by a Tang Dynasty General whose adoration of his horse stock elevated them to near diety status. Each "room" now contains a diorama, in series depicting the courtship and marriage of a beautiful young lady and handsosme young prince, who pursued the marriage over the objection of his mother.
