September 17, 2004 alt.

My first time using the D70 for sports. I'm a bit rusty on the shutter release. It's very hard to catch the ball in these shots. (Moderate crop, I've forgotten what percent.) I liked this in B&W more than color, too much distraction. [Channel mixer R=28, G=41, B=31, monochrome]

I'm begining to like B&W more and more and know of the distraction of colour at times! Sports photography is fun and guess it's anticipating the action? Least with digital you can delete when your timing sucks! ;))

I like both shots....though I agree the BW wins out between the two. For someone who is "rusty" you've done really well!

I like the B&W version, too . . interesting that they don't have MORE bruises with all that over-lapping!! Nice action displayed here, and emotion on their part, good dof on them too (like I KNOW what I'm talking about LOL!)
