Wave2-11.jpg

Having wandered off the path to the Wave in the early morning light, I found myself humbled and amazed to find this incredible area of sculpted sandstone formations and striations (actually, it seems like around every corner is another jaw-dropping sandstone creation - it just never ends). I've got to say the I had in my mind compositions that I wanted to create - but just couldn't accomplish my vision in this particular area. Perhaps it was the quality of the light at the time, or the arrangement of the shadows in the early morning light - but I just couldn't 'capture' what I had envisioned. So I just sat down and looked - trying to burn what I saw into the emulsion of my mind... That worked much better. Sometimes I find that some images simply can not be captured by mechanical means, and the only lasting and satisfying image is that which is formed in the mind.
This image is close, but not quite what I had in mind. It will have to serve, however, as my mechanical representation of an otherwise breathtaking area - full of emotion, feeling, and awe.
Shot with WC-58 wide angle adapter.

Great images but I'd love to see the EFIX so it'd be recognizable what focal length and exposure bias was used. I always love these types of textures and your coloring is brilliant.
