26th - "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast"

Cheltenham, Glos

(from the 1970 album Atom Heart Mother)

Well, what can I say? Showered, shaved and ready for another day serving the goodness and light which is HMG and what do I see? No, not Frosties or All Bran, nope not even plain old Corn Flakes...everywhere I look it's Pink blinkin' Floyd...in the tea-caddy, in the cereal box and now in my bowl! It seems that this Challenge has totally taken over my life! I've got Pink Floyd for my brekkie now - I hate to think what's in the teapot... (mmMMMMmmmmmmm, 'shroom tea ;O)

Preparation: (a) a straight forward pic of the bowl lit by off-camera flash bounced at some green foil and my special spangly foil too; (b) a moody SP, lit from below by off-camera flash; (c) lots of little pics of the covers from the albums I've been Challenging from this month (all snitched from Wikipedia I think...I didn't photograph them!)

Execution: all pics opened into CS3 with the bowl pic as the base and the others opened as additional layers. Nothing done to the base except the addition of Lens Flare; album cover layers were resized and altered with the Transform tool to look (a bit) three-dimensional, and were artistically placed around the base pic. They were reduced in opacity to blend in a bit more and some were repositioned to be underneath others. The moody SP was resized and moved to the back of the shot, extraneous bits being erased on the way. Lastly as always, the image was flattened and resized for the Web

Surprisingly, although this shot has by far the most phaffing about and CS3 fettling action for any I've done this month, it took almost no time at all - I took the bowl pic a week or two back, but only attacked the whole thing properly last night while tea was cooking (mince & tatties and peas, since you ask...and jolly nice it was too), so about an hour and ten or fifteen minutes from start to finish

Thursday 26th's what's-happened-to-my-bleedin'-Corn-Flakes-this-morning?-I-can't-do-a-day's-work-on-this! entry to the Challenge; click here for other Floydian adventurers this month

Oh My! Remind me never to eat at Alan's. But I'll go just to watch the show. Great composition Vµ

Takes a long time to read the process - so must have taken ages to do - can all this be done in a day! - well worth the effort for a great finished product.

Heehee, bet this was fun! So long as it's only the covers you're eating you should get plenty of fibre :o)

A tour de Force for this difficult song title. I like everything from the mysterious glow in the bowl, the swirling lights, the twirling little album covers and the mysterious SP with the psychedelic gleam in the eye. Really well conceived and executed. "V"

ahh...Floyd Flakes...a tasty start to the day...although eating too many can lead to a momentary lapse of reason...

What could be a better start to the day,
not long to go (sadly) then you can lie down in a darkened room.
Have a good day.
